Sudha Ratan, Department of Political Science, Augusta State University

bio_SudhaRatanDr. Ratan received her B.A in History from Stella Maris College in Madras, India, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Madras, and completed her Ph.D in International Studies from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C in 1993.  She taught at Georgia Southern University from 1990-2001.  She is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Augusta State University.  Dr. Ratan teaches in the area of International Relations and Comparative Politics.  At Augusta State University she teaches courses in World Politics, International Relations, and Comparative Politics.  Her research interests are in the area of ethnic identity, nationalism, and the impact of these on women and she has published several articles in these areas.  She is a native of India and has a special interest in studying political participation by women in the Indian subcontinent.
