Atef Al-Saadawy, Al-Ahram Democracy Review

bio_AtefAlSaadawyAtef Al-Saadawy is managing editor of the Democracy Review Quarterly, a publication of the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Cairo. He is also a researcher with the Arab Reform Forum at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and a contributor to Oxford University’s Project for Democracy Studies in the Arab countries.

he served as a Democracy  Fellow at  the International Forum for Democratic Studies, The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) in Washington D.C

he  also served as a Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. A prolific writer and expert on Egyptian politics,

Al-Saadawy has authored sixteen books, including  Enhancing democracy in Egypt: toward a common view among political powers (2007), New Trends in the 2005 Egyptian Parliamentary Elections (2006), Africa: Between Democratization and Structural Adjustment (2006), and Despotism in Modern Arab Government (2005). He has been actively involved in the debate on democratization in the Arab world, having written numerous articles and papers for conferences in Egypt, England, Denmark, Greece, Lebanon, Algeria, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, the United States, Morocco, Jordan and the Netherlands.
